Don’t know why Apple has disabled reverse charging support on the iPhone 12.
In 2019, many users have expected that the iPhone 11 series will have reverse wireless charging technology to charge accessories that support wireless charging such as the AirPods Pro, the AirPods 2 wireless charging version, but things are not expected. This year, it seems that Apple has enchant iFan by integrating reverse wireless charging capabilities on the iPhone 12 line.
According to information from the FCC, a certification body in the United States, all four iPhone 12 models support reverse wireless charging. The FCC also says the iPhone 12 is compatible with regular Qi charging standards and supports “360 kHz charging”, which means it can be reversed for other wireless accessories.
However, Apple has never released any official information regarding this issue, or this feature may have been disabled by Apple on the iPhone 12. Some reports indicate that Apple may be want to “keep” this feature to announce at the same time with the AirPods 3 & AirPods Pro 2 to be introduced in the near future. In which, AirPods 3 are popular models, while AirPods Pro 2 will be in the high-end line with a new design. In addition, there will also be the appearance of the more premium AirPods Studio headphones early next year.
